Title

Resolution authorizing an easement with We Energies on the City-owned property at 2476 North Teutonia Avenue, in the 15th Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes an easement for the installation of utility facilities on City-owned property.

Body

Whereas, Wisconsin Electric Power Company, doing business as We Energies (“WE”), provides energy and utility services to the City of Milwaukee (“City”) through facilities located in North Teutonia Avenue and West Wright Street, which is adjacent to the City property at 2476 North Teutonia Avenue; and

Whereas, WE has requested a six-foot by eighty-foot permanent easement at the northwest corner of the subject lot to upgrade its current facilities under the conditions outlined in the Distribution Easement-Gas, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File; and

Whereas, WE has offered the City $1,000 as consideration for the easement, which represents fair compensation given the low impact on the property; and

Whereas, The Department of City Development and the Department of Public Works have reviewed the easement and recommend approval; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that said easement with WE at 2476 North Teutonia Avenue is approved and that the proper City officials are authorized to execute the easement; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the easement proceeds, less a 30 percent fee to the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee, shall be credited to the City General Fund.
