Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to enter into an agreement with the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Athletic Training Program under which students in the Athletic Training Program will acquire clinical experience in the Fire Department.
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department implemented a Wellness Program in 2009 to be proactive in the coordination of fitness and performance among its members and to reduce the likelihood of injuries on the job; and

Whereas, In 2016, the Fire Department hired an Athletic Trainer to further expand the Department’s fitness, injury prevention and injury rehabilitation program; and

Whereas, Since the inception of the Wellness Program, the Fire Department has seen a 51% reduction of injury claims and 66% reduction in lost-time injuries; and

Whereas, The Fire Department desires to sponsor fifth-year Athletic Training Program students from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee to fulfill the students’ Capstone Field Clinical Project requirement; and

Whereas, It is to the mutual interest and advantage of both entities that the students of the Athletic Training Program of the University be given the opportunity to supplement academic preparation for the practice of their profession with clinical experience provided by the Milwaukee Fire Department; and

Whereas, The parties agree that by working together they will be contributing to the development of a highly qualified pool of Athletic Trainers; now, therefore, be it
