Analysis

This resolution directs each City department to create a report itemizing the services and resources provided by that department in the 53206 ZIP code area and to provide the report to the Common Council within 30 days.

Body

Whereas, Residents of Milwaukee’s 53206 ZIP code area (“53206”) encounter higher rates of poverty, incarceration, unemployment and lack of access to healthcare, education and transportation, all barriers to achieving economic, health and social equity, than residents in other parts of the city; and

 

Whereas, Resources and services provided by City departments can be factors in lowering barriers to economic, health and social equity for Milwaukee residents; and

 

Whereas, While the City provides resources and services throughout Milwaukee, the extent to which City services and resources are provided in 53206 is unclear; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that each City department is directed to create a report itemizing the services and resources provided by that department in the 53206 ZIP code area; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That City departments are directed to submit their reports to the Common Council within 30 days of adoption of this resolution.
