Minutes note: Appearing: Deborah McCullum-Gathing - DCD Amy Turim - DCD Emily McKeown - DNS Jim Klajbor - Treasurer Mr. Albert Hill Regarding item #181561, please note that the applicant, Verrita Hill, also has an ownership interest in 1513 N. 37th, which is not disclosed on the application. Ms. Hill is the incorporator of the owner, Unity United Community Company, Inc., a dissolved corporation. Note that the assessor’s record lists the owner as “Unity United Community Co. Inc c/o Verrita Hill.” This property has delinquent real estate taxes for tax years 2016, 2017, and 2018. There is one outstanding building code violation forfeiture on this property in the amount of $355.00 to be paid by February 25, 2019. The Unity United Community Co, Inc. entity does have outstanding municipal court judgments on properties it once owned but lost to in Rem foreclosure: 2464 W Monroe St., $4,054.15 2817 N 16th St., $1,080.00 To clarify this situation and ownership status of all properties, Ald. Bauman moved to Hold this Item tot he call of the Chair. Ald. Bauman withdrew his motion.

Title

Substitute resolution authorizing the return of real estate located at 3917 W. Roberts Street, in the 15th Aldermanic District to its former owner Albert and Verrita Hill.

Analysis

Permits return of property owned by the City under conditions imposed by s. 304-50, Milw. Code of Ordinances

Body

Whereas, The property located at 3917 W. Roberts Street, previously owned by Albert and Verrita Hill, has delinquent taxes for 2015-2018 and was foreclosed upon pursuant to Sec. 75.521, Wis. Stats., and  a fee simple absolute was obtained in favor of the City of Milwaukee dated January 15, 2019 181561; and

 

Whereas, Albert and Verrita Hill would like to reclaim said property by paying all City and County real estate taxes, plus accrued interest and penalties to date of payment, and all costs as sustained by the City in the foreclosing and management of said property since January 15, 2019; and

 

Whereas, Albert and Verrita Hill has agreed to pay all related city charges up until the point that the property is returned, as well as all charges and conditions which are detailed in the letters submitted by the Department of Neighborhood Services, Department of City Development, the Health Department and the Treasurer’s Office, as though set forth in this resolution; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that in order to return the property at 3917 W. Roberts Street, a cashier's check must be submitted in the amount indicated by the City Treasurer within thirty (30) calendar days of the adoption of this resolution;  and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Attorney is then authorized to enter into a stipulation with the former owner to reopen and vacate the City's judgment in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Case No 18-CV-7366. Known as the 2015-2018 In Rem Parcel 266, securing the court's order and recording said order with the Milwaukee County Register of Deeds; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That if the above delinquent taxes, interest, and penalties are not paid within thirty (30) calendar days of the adoption of this resolution, this process becomes null and void.
