Title

Resolution directing the City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force to meet quarterly to review and monitor progress of implementation of Task Force recommendations.

Analysis

This resolution extends the City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force to meet quarterly for the purpose of studying the problem of rising prevalence of opioid, heroin, and synthetic analog and cocaine (in both powder and crack form) misuse and addiction in Milwaukee. The Task Force shall review and monitor progress of its recommendations to reduce fatal and nonfatal overdose within the community.

Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 161061 on January 18, 2017, creating a City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force; and

 

Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 170220 on June 20, 2017, extending the final reporting deadline; and

 

Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 171641 on February 6, 2018, further extending the final reporting deadline; and

 

Whereas, The Task Force reported its final recommendations, which were placed on file on December 18, 2018, with Common Council Communication File Number 181259, and

 

Whereas, The Task Force recommendations include ongoing initiatives, which necessitate continuing the work of the Task Force; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the duration of the City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force shall be extended to meet quarterly for the purpose of studying the problem of rising prevalence of opioid, heroin, and synthetic analog and cocaine (in both powder and crack form) misuse and addiction in Milwaukee; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force shall review and monitor the progress of its recommendations to reduce fatal and nonfatal overdose within the community; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force shall continue to meet until directed otherwise by the Common Council.
