Analysis
This resolution approves a Land Disposition Report and authorizes the sale of the former Milwaukee School of Entrepreneurship located at 6914 West Appleton Avenue to Standard of Excellence Education & Training Center, LLC.
Body
Whereas, The former Milwaukee School of Entrepreneurship, located at 6914 West Appleton Avenue (“Property”), was declared surplus by the Milwaukee Board of School Directors in 2012 and was declared surplus by the City of Milwaukee (“City”) in 2014; and

Whereas, In accordance with the requirements imposed by Section 119.61, Wisconsin Statutes, the Property was listed for sale to education operators for a two-year period that ended in 2017; and

Whereas, No education operator purchased the Property during that two-year period; and

Whereas, In accordance with Section 119.61, Wisconsin Statutes, the Property was advertised for sale to non-education operators in 2017; and

Whereas, Standard of Excellence Education & Training Center, LLC (“Buyer”) proposes to purchase and renovate the Property as an educational training facility and office space as summarized in a Land Disposition Report and a Due Diligence Checklist, copies of which are attached to this Common Council File; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Land Disposition Report is approved and that the Department of City Development (“DCD”) is authorized to enter into an Offer to Purchase with the Buyer, materially consistent with the Land Disposition Report, and then convey the Property to the Buyer in accordance therewith; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of DCD, or designee, is authorized to sign the Offer to Purchase, deed and requisite closing documents and to close the transaction a...
