Analysis
This resolution approves the City’s expenditure of a $25,000 grant as related to Common Council File No. 180635, which authorized acceptance of the grant from the Fund for Cities of Service, Inc. for the Love Your Block Program.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) engages with residents and neighborhood organizations to support efforts essential to neighborhood stabilization and revitalization through the Department of City Development’s (“DCD”) Housing and Neighborhood Development section; and

Whereas, DCD works with residents and neighborhood organizations to support efforts to eliminate blight, increase the physical appearance of properties and engage residents using a variety of housing and neighborhood revitalization programs; and

Whereas, The Fund for Cities of Service, Inc. (“Cities of Service”) operates the Love Your Block Program, which is a service strategy that supports the connection of City staff with community residents to help revitalize neighborhoods; and

Whereas, Cities of Service accepted applications through a competitive process and it announced Milwaukee as one of ten cities nationwide to be awarded the grant and stated that Milwaukee was ideally suited to receive this grant because of its established programs supporting neighborhood-based revitalization efforts; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant program from July 3, 2018 to December 31, 2020 will cost $25,000 entirely provided by the Grantor; and

Whereas, The City will focus these grant funds to further efforts around blight elimination, homeownership promotion and resident engagement; and

Whereas, On July 31, 2018, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted File No. 180635 that authorized acceptance of the $25,000 grant from the Fund for Citie...
