Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a 2018-19 Homeland Security EOD Robot Upgrade

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a Homeland Security EOD Robot Upgrade grant from the U.S. Department of Justice through the State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA), in the amount of $44,068 with a city share of $0, and a grantor share of $44,068. The purpose of this funding is for the upgrade of the MPD’s robot for the Bomb Unit in order to become a more effective response tool for high risk operations.

Body:
Whereas, Under CFDA 97.067, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice through the State of Wisconsin DMA; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/15/18 to 7/29/19 would cost $44,068, 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That, the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2018 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: 2018-2019 HS-WEM ALERT EOD grant.
