Title
Substitute resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the 2017-19 Wisconsin Hazardous Material Response System Equipment Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs-Division of Emergency Management.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to accept and fund a 2017-19 HAZMAT Equipment Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs-Department of Emergency Management in the amount of $60,908.66, which is funded 100% by the grantor. These funds will provide for grant eligible equipment for the Milwaukee Fire Department Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Response Team.

Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Hazardous Materials Response System (WHMRS) Equipment Grant program was created by Wisconsin State Statute 323.70 (6) which authorizes the division to award grants to local agencies with which the division contracts with for HAZMAT Response System Services; and

Whereas, The purpose of the grants is to fund the replacement of equipment used in emergency responses to releases of hazardous substances pursuant to the Contract for Wisconsin Hazardous Materials Response System Services; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs-Division of Emergency Management; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 11/15/18 to 2/28/19 will cost $60,908.66 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the acceptance of the grant from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs-Division of Emergency Management is authorized and the Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it
