Title

Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a FY2017 Assistance to Firefightersaf Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Fire Department to accept and fund the FY2017 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in the amount of $326,200. The purpose of the contract grant is to purchase PPE (personal protective equipment) Washer/Extractor/Dryers for 20 fire stations which will improve the long-term health of our firefighters by reducing their exposure to dirty, soiled and contaminated PPE.

 

Body

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA Program #97.044, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the FY2017 Aissistance to Firefighers (AFG) Grant to purchase PPE Washer/Extractor/Dryers for certain fire stations; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 08/28/18 to 08/27/19 would cost $326,200 of which $296,546 (91%) would be provided by the grantor and $29,654 (9%) would be provided by the city; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, the Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2018 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled FY2017 Assistance to Firefighters Grant - PPE Washer/Extractor/Dryers:

2.  Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Fire Department which is authorized to:

 

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
