This resolution authorizes the City to acquire property for public right-of-way purposes to widen West Winnebago Street (southerly side) from West Juneau Avenue northerly to a point and West Juneau Avenue at West Winnebago Street (northwest corner).
Body
Whereas, On February 14, 2018, the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (“DPW”) sent a letter to MKE Hotel LLC (“Hotel”) requesting Hotel to convey to the City of Milwaukee (“City”) two (2) strips of land (“Property”) as legally described within Exhibit A, a copy of which exhibit is attached to this Common Council File; and
Whereas, DPW requested the Property because the City’s sidewalks on West Winnebago Street and West Juneau Avenue extend onto the Property; and
Whereas, On March 6, 2018, Hotel sent a letter to DPW consenting to convey the Property to the City per the City’s request; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials, including the DPW Commissioner or designee, are hereby authorized to acquire the Property via quit claim deed(s) for public right-of-way purposes and cause the same to be recorded in the Milwaukee County Register of Deeds Office.
