Title
Resolution relating to application, acceptance and funding of an Election Data Grant from the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Election Commission’s application, acceptance and funding of an Election Data Grant project from the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board in the amount of $31, 400 grantor share. Under this project, the Election Commission will provide voter participation and election data for all wards in the City of Milwaukee for the November 4, 2008,General and Presidential Election to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.

Whereas, The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board received $2 million from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission to:

1. Provide detailed election data from the November 4, 2008, General and Presidential Election.

2. Improve the state’s existing elections data collection business practices.

3. Develop an elections data collection model protocol that can be replicated by other states.

; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board for providing such election data related to the November 4, 2008, General and Presidential Election; and

Whereas, Given the purposes of the federal grant funds, such funds may not be spent on, or used for any initiatives other than to improve elections data collection business practices within the city; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the application to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board is authorized, and the Election Commission shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in s. 304-81 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it
