This resolution transfers $10,000 in funds from the 2018 Capital Improvements-Advance Planning Fund account into a subaccount for a design charrette for the Uptown Crossing Business Improvement District.
Body
Whereas, On December 1, 2009, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee (“Common Council”) approved the West Side Area Comprehensive Plan as a component of the City of Milwaukee Comprehensive Plan; and

Whereas, The West Side Area Comprehensive Plan identified the revitalization and redevelopment of the Uptown Crossing Business Improvement District (“BID No. 16”) as a catalytic project; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) Department of City Development (“DCD”) is working with BID No. 16 and other area stakeholders, including residents and business owners, to explore redevelopment and design solutions for specific, underutilized sites along the West North Avenue and West Lisbon Avenue corridors; and

Whereas, BID No. 16 will participate in a design charrette with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Community Design Solutions (“CDS”), focusing on six high-priority commercial corridor redevelopment sites; and

Whereas, CDS has conducted several design charrettes in neighborhoods throughout Milwaukee that have led to the redevelopment of properties; and

Whereas, The City typically provides a financial match to Business Improvement District contributions to conduct these design charrettes; and

Whereas, The design charrette will provide a vision for redevelopment of high-priority, underutilized sites along the West North Avenue and West Lisbon Avenue corridors within BID No. 16; and
