Title
Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a Green Solutions grant from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District for the installation of bioswales within the terrace areas of West Bradley Road between North 51st Street and North 124th Street in the 5th and 9th Aldermanic Districts.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works, Infrastructure Services Division, to accept and fund a Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Green Solutions grant with a maximum reimbursement amount of $500,019 for the construction of bioswales in the terrace areas of West Bradley Road between North 51st Street and North 124th Street. The resolution also authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute the Funding Agreement. The City cost of the project approved by this resolution is estimated to be $179,981 and the total estimated cost is $680,000.

Whereas, The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) is responsible for collecting and treating wastewater from local sewerage systems; and
Whereas, Green infrastructure, such as bioswales, reduces the volume of stormwater in the sewer system and the amount of pollutants discharged to surface waters; and
Whereas, MMSD desires to promote the installation of green infrastructure and is willing to provide the City funding up to a maximum reimbursable amount of $500,019 as part of its Green Solutions program; and
Whereas, The City proposes to construct bioswales in the terrace areas of West Bradley Road between North 51st Street and North 124th Street; and
Whereas, The Common Council has adopted File Number 180295 authorizing the expenditure of capital funds for engineering and construction of said bioswales project (SM499170102); and
