Resolution relative to acceptance, and funding of a Pedestrian Enforcement 2018 grant.
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a Pedestrian Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of State Patrol, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $43,725 with the grantor funding $34,980 and the City providing a $8,745 in-kind match. The purpose of this grant is to detect and apprehend motor vehicle operators in areas with the largest number of crashes due to excess alcohol use or speed.
Body:
Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #20.600, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Pedestrian Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of State Patrol, Bureau of Transportation Safety, and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/1/17 to 9/30/18 would cost $43,725 of which $34,980 would be provided by the grantor and $8,745 will be provided by the City; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code Ordnances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2018 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Pedestrian Enforcement 2018 Project Grant:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:

Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
