Whereas, Common Council File Number 180207 authorizes the settlement of the lawsuits entitled Kevin Jermaine Bell v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No.: 17-CV-605; Mario Daryl Woods v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No.: 17-CV-606; Deleon Mosby v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No.: 17-CV-607; Terrance Lee Martin v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No.: 17-CV-666; David Bernard Fletcher v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No.: 17-CV-694; Sedarian Williams v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No.: 17-CV-735; Joseph Gill v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No.: 17-CV-1154; and Derrick Griffin v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No.: 17-CV-1363; and
Whereas, the agreed $375,000 settlement amount authorized in File Number 180207 exceeds the available balance in the 2018 Damages & Claims Fund Special Purpose Account;
Whereas, the current balance of the funds in the 2018 Damages and Claims Fund Special Purpose Account is $253,800.56;
Whereas the City Attorney anticipates that additional funds will be necessary to meet the obligations imposed by reasonably anticipated claims and litigation during the remainder of 2018, now, therefore, be it
Resolved, by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that up to $400,000 from the 2018 Common Council Contingent Fund (0001-9990-C001-006300) is reserved and appropriated to the 2018 Damages and Claims Fund Special Purpose Account (0001-1490-S118-006300); and be it
Further Resolved, that the City Comptroller and other appropriate City officials are directed to take all actions necessary to fulfill the intent of this resolution.
