Analysis

This resolution directs the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works to convert State Street from North Market Street to North 6^th Street to two-way traffic.

Body

Whereas, Traffic on State Street from North Market Street to North 6^th Street is one-way westbound; and

Whereas, The Wells Street bridge was closed on March 5, 2018 and is expected to be closed through November 2018; and

Whereas, The closure of the Wells Street bridge has an impact on the flow of traffic in Downtown Milwaukee during peak travel times and special events; and

Whereas, The Bradley Center will undergo demolition in the summer of 2018, potentially impacting the flow of traffic; and

Whereas, The conversion of State Street to two-way traffic in Downtown Milwaukee will facilitate the flow of traffic; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is directed to convert State Street from North Market Street to North 6^th Street to two-way traffic.
