HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
|
Minutes note: Mr. Tim Askin said the proposal is to re-clad the building in corrogated metal panels in the rear, which is highly visible. The brick and stucco on the building has failed and the panels will be near the top of the building, but will affect the roof line. The panels do not meet the Mitchell Street guidelines. The guidelines state that what was there must go back. Staff recommends denial. Over time, the Commission has never approved corrugated metal over surfaces, per Ms. Hatala.
Steve Esser - architect - the panel is being proposed as the fourth side wasn't done solely due to costs at that time. They would like to have all 4 sides be watertight and match and they see it as a continuation of what they were doing before and this is not a contributing elevation and is 65 feet up in the air.
Ms. Keating Kahn is hesitant to deviate from the guidelines.
A motion was made to deny. | | |
