Title

Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an amendment to the Green Solutions grant from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District for the installation of bioswales within the medians of West Good Hope Road between North 91st Street and North 107th Street to include the installation and funding of bioswales in the medians of West Mill Road between North 43rd Street and North 91st Street in the 2nd and the 9th Aldermanic Districts.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an amendment to a Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Green Solutions grant for the installation of bioswales within the medians of Good Hope Road between North 91st Street and North 107th Street. The amendment allows the grant to include the installation and funding of bioswales on West Mill Road between North 43rd Street and North 91st Street. 

Body

Whereas, Common Council File No 160414 authorized the City to enter into an agreement (Green Solution Funding Agreement M03076P41) with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) to accept and fund a Green Solutions grant for the installation of bioswales on West Good Hope Road (CTH PP) between North 91st Street and North 107th Street; and

 

Whereas, Said File also authorized expenditures of $207,258 in grantor share and $146,742 in City share with a total project construction cost of $354,000 for the West Good Hope Road bioswales project; and

 

Whereas, The estimated construction cost of said bioswales on West Good Hope Road is revised to $128,000 and can be funded in its entirety by the grantor share; and

 

Whereas, The City desires to fund a similar bioswale project in the medians of West Mill Road (CTH S) between North 43rd Street and North 91st Street with the remaining grantor share amount of $79,258; and

 

Whereas, MMSD has amended Section 3 of said agreement to include the West Mill Road bioswales project with said remaining grantor share amount; and

 

Whereas, Said portion of West Mill Road is under the jurisdiction of the Milwaukee County (County) and  the City and the County will enter into an agreement establishing the terms and conditions for the construction and maintenance of the bioswales; and

 

Whereas, Common Council File Number 171096 authorized the expenditure of $425,000 in construction costs for the bioswales in West Mill Road (SM499160121) and determined it necessary and in the public interest to construct nonassessable improvements; therefore, be it

 

Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to execute the amendment to the Green Solutions funding agreement between the City and the MMSD, said amendment being attached to this Common Council File ----and incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full.
