Title

An ordinance relating to the distribution of state property tax credits directly to the City of Milwaukee.

Analysis

This ordinance notifies the State of Wisconsin Departments of Administration and Revenue to make direct payments of state property tax credits to the City of Milwaukee.  This notice is required by 2017 Wisconsin Act 59 for a municipality receiving greater than $3,000,000 in state property tax credits desiring to receive a direct distribution of state property tax credits.

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1. Pursuant to 2017 Wisconsin Act 59, a municipality receiving greater than $3,000,000 in state property tax credits may notify the Wisconsin Departments of Administration and Revenue that the municipality approves the direct distribution of the property tax credits to the municipality until or unless the ordinance is repealed, or the property tax credits to be distributed no longer exceed $3,000,000 annually.

 

Part 2. The City of Milwaukee receives more than $3,000,000 in payments from the State of Wisconsin for the state school levy, lottery and gaming, and first dollar property tax credits.

 

Part 3. By passage of this ordinance, the City of Milwaukee hereby notifies the Wisconsin Departments of Administration and Revenue to make such direct payments in 2018 and for all subsequent years.
