Title

Resolution amending Common Council Resolution File Number 161061 to extend the reporting deadline for the final findings of the City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force and to add one member to the Task Force.

Analysis

This resolution amends Common Council Resolution File Number 161061 adopted on January 18, 2017, by extending the City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force’s deadline for reporting its final findings to the Common Council to December 31, 2018. This resolution also adds one member to the City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force.

Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 161061 on January 18, 2017, creating a City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force; and

 

Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 170220 on June 20, 2017, extending the final reporting deadline; and

 

Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 161741 on March 28, 2017, adding one member to the Task Force; and

 

Whereas, Extending the Task Force’s reporting deadline will provide sufficient time for the Task Force to thoroughly investigate, analyze, and make recommendations to the Common Council regarding this complex and multi-faceted issue; and

 

Whereas, The Task Force has determined that adding a member of the law enforcement community to its membership is essential to the success of its mission; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Common Council File Number 161061 is amended by replacing the seventh “Further Resolved” clause with the following:

 

“Further Resolved, That the City-County Heroin, Opioid, and Cocaine Task Force shall report its final findings and recommendations to the Common Council no later than 24 months from the effective date of this resolution.”

 

; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That a person who is a law enforcement professional shall be added to the Task Force, and that person shall be appointed by the Chair of the Task Force.
