Title

Resolution determining it necessary to make various nonassessable public improvements at various locations and appropriating funds for these purposes with the City engineering cost estimated to be $634,000 for a total estimated cost of these projects being $8,647,000.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes engineering studies on projects which by City Charter are nonassessable.  After design plans and estimates of costs have been prepared, a resolution authorizing construction will be submitted to the Common Council.  The City cost for engineering these projects is estimated to be $634,000 with the total cost estimated to be $8,647,000.

Body

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee,  that it is necessary and in the public interest to do the following described improvements according to City specifications:

 

6th Aldermanic District

 

W. Burleigh St. - N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. to N. 7th St. (SM495180015):  Relaying combined sewer.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $15,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $394,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season. 

 

N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. - N. 6th St. to W. Keefe Ave. (SM495180011): Relaying combined sewer.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $10,000).  The total estimated cost of this project is $68,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2019 construction season. 

 

N. 5th St. - W. Chambers St. to W. Ring St. (SM495180013): Relaying combined sewer.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $15,000).  The total estimated cost of the project is $443,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season.

 

N. 6th St. - W. Chambers St. to W. Burleigh St. (SM495180014): Relaying combined sewer. (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $12,000).  The total estimated cost of the project is $198,000.  The project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season.

 

7th Aldermanic District

 

N. 50th St. - W. Locust St. to W. Chambers St. (SM495180010): Relaying storm sewer.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $12,000).  The total estimated cost of this project is $148,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season. 

 

10th Aldermanic District

 

N. 60th St. - W. Center St. to W. Locust St. - (SM495180012):  Relaying sanitary sewer.  Relaying storm sewer.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $15,000).  The total estimated cost of this project is $396,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2019 construction season. 

 

11th Aldermanic District

 

Area bounded by W. Harrison Ave., Kinnickinnic River Pkwy, S. 60th St and S. 72nd St  (SM494180010): Building Sanitary sewer lateral lining.  (Infiltration/Inflow Reduction Fund -- $55,000). The total estimated cost of this project is $4,955,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season. 

 

13th Aldermanic District

 

Area bounded by W. Layton Ave., W. Edgerton Ave., S. 20th St., and S. 27th St. (SM494180011): (Infiltration/Inflow Reduction Fund--$45,000).  The total estimated cost of this project is $620,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season.

 

Various Aldermanic Districts

 

Bridge Indirect and Administration (BR100180101):  Preliminary engineering and administration of bridge projects.  (City Share Non-assessable Structure Fund  $150,000).  The total estimated cost for this project $150,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season.

 

Bridge Safety Inspection (BR100180102):  Federal and State mandated safety inspection of in-service bridges.  (City Share Non-assessable Structure Fund --$175,000).  The total estimated cost for this project is $175,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season. 

 

Miscellaneous Bridge Design (BR100180103):  Engineering related to various bridge maintenance projects.  (City Share Non-assessable Structure Fund -- $100,000).  The total estimated cost for this project $100,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season.

 

Crackfilling of various streets by contract (ST211180169):  (Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $10,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $300,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season. 

 

Slurry seal coating of various streets (ST211180170):  (Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund -- $10,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $200,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season. 

 

Chip sealing of various streets by contract (ST211180171): (Nonassessable Reconstruction Paving Fund --$10,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $500,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2018 construction season.

Further Resolved, That all City Departments are authorized to perform engineering, surveys, plan preparation, and determine an estimated cost thereof; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
