Resolution authorizing the transfer of the 2009 Community Development Block Grant  funding and the 2009 Emergency Shelter Grant funding from the Sojourner Truth House and Task Force on Family Violence to form the merger titled Sojourner Family Peace Center, Inc.

Analysis

Body

Whereas, Sojourner Truth House and Task Force on Family Violence, Inc. has notified the Community Development Grants Administration (CDGA) in the attached letters of their merger to form the Sojourner Family Peace Center, Inc. effective February 1, 2009.  Sojourner Family Peace Center, Inc. will perform the activity of Emergency Shelter/Transitional Housing - Domestic Violence and the activity of Shelter & Supportive Service Domestic Violence-Legal Assistance; and

 

Whereas, The 2009 CDBG funding for Sojourner Truth House in the amount of $147,278, and the CDBG funding for the Task Force on Family Violence, Inc. in the amount of $94,851 are transferred to the Sojourner Family Peace Center, Inc. for the activities listed above; and

 

Whereas, The 2009 Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) funding for the Sojourner Truth House in the amount of $54,521 is transferred to the Sojourner Family Peace Center, Inc. for the activity listed above; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, That the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee hereby approves the transfer of the 2009 CDBG and ESG funding and activity as stated above from the Sojourner Truth House and Task Force on Family Violence, Inc. to the Sojourner Family Peace Center Inc.; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the contract with Sojourner Family Peace Center, Inc. shall specifically provide that eligible costs incurred by Sojourner Truth House and Task Force on Family Violence, Inc. between January 1, 2009 and the date of merger shall be eligible for reimbursement if proper documentation is submitted pursuant to the standard requirements for reimbursement included in the contract executed with Sojourner Family Peace Center, Inc.; and, be it 

 

Further Resolved, That Sojourner Family Peace Center, Inc. shall submit budget and activity reports in amounts and according to any conditions approved by the Common Council and in accordance with File Number 74-92-5v, to the Community Development Grants Administration and the City Comptroller for review and approval; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That payments for CDBG and ESG costs incurred shall be paid in accordance with approved CDBG and ESG reimbursement policy based on the approval by the Community Development Grants Administration and the City Comptroller; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That except as modified by this resolution, the guidelines for handling the Community Development Block Grant Program set forth in Common Council File Number 74-92-5v are fully applicable to the 2009 Community Development Entitlement Funding Program.
