Resolution authorizing and approving conveyance of various parcels of real property held in trust for the benefit of the Milwaukee Public Schools and declared surplus by the Milwaukee Board of School Directors.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City, on behalf of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, the school district organized under Chapter 119 of the Wisconsin Statutes Milwaukee Public Schools (“MPS”) to execute and deliver the instruments, documents and agreements necessary to convey various parcels of real property formerly used for school purposes, which have been declared surplus by MPS and listed on the attached list of surplus MPS properties.
Body
Whereas, MPS, The Boerke Company, Inc., Quarles & Brady, LLP and Central City Valuation Services, (collectively the “Boerke Team”) have entered into a Professional Real Estate Services Contract dated January 12, 2007, providing for the marketing, development and conveyance of real property declared surplus by MPS; and
Whereas, MPS has worked together with the Boerke Team and the City of Milwaukee Department of City Development (“DCD”) in preparing and approving the attached list of surplus MPS real property; and
Whereas, MPS, in cooperation with the Boerke Team is evaluating the potential for marketing, developing or disposing of various individual parcels of surplus real property, including the conveyance of various surplus parcels to private entities and individuals upon terms and conditions acceptable to MPS; and
Whereas, Legal title to MPS real property is held in the name of the City of Milwaukee, in trust for MPS; and
Whereas, The conveyance of surplus MPS real property requires adoption of a resolution by the Common Council authorizing and approving such conveyance and authorizing execution of necessary documentation; and
