Substitute resolution relative to various legislative bills.

Body

Whereas, The Judiciary and Legislation Committee of the Common Council has recommended the following positions on the bills hereinafter listed and the Common Council being advised of said matter; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, That the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee hereby instructs the Division of Intergovernmental Relations to support the following:

 

1.                     The Budget Priorities, as attached to this file

2.                     The Election Reform List as attached to this file (Ald. Hamilton not supporting item #3 on this list - prohibiting compensation for registering voters; and Ald. Davis and Ald. Donovan not supporting item #6 on this list - Milwaukee City Election Commission appointment process)

3.                     Amending the 2009-2010 legislative package to support a statute to provide that properly signed and issued parking citations constitute prima facie evidence of facts therein

4.                     Support the change in penalties for parking violations in s. 346.56, Wis. Stats., to remove the differentiation between first and second offenses.
