An ordinance relating to alternate-side night parking requirements.

Analysis

Currently, the city’s night parking restrictions are not in effect on Sundays or designated holidays.  This ordinance provides that this exception shall not apply when the department of public works announces snow-plowing operations or other public works operations are underway.  If there is a snow-plowing or other public works operation, vehicles shall only be parked in accordance with the alternate-side parking rules.

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1.  Section 101-27-7-a of the code is amended to read:

 

101-27.  All Night Parking.

 

7.  EXCEPTIONS.

 

a.  Holidays.  On the morning of the 1st day of each week, Sunday; and on the morning of, and the morning following, the first day of January, New Year’s Day; 3rd Monday in January, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; last Monday in May, Memorial Day; July4, Independence Day; 1st Monday in September, Labor Day; 4th Thursday in November, Thanksgiving day; December 25, Christmas Day, in any year >>, except when the department of public works announces snow-plowing operations or other public works operations are underway.  Whenever the department of public works announces snow-plowing operations or other public works operations are underway, vehicles shall only be parked in accordance with the alternate-side parking requirements of sub. 3-a<< .
