Substitute resolution relating to the rate of salary increase to be paid to certain City employees in 2018.

Analysis

This resolution directs the Department of Employee Relations that any amendment to Part II, Section 4 of the Salary Ordinance - Salary Advancement and Salary Anniversary Dates include language providing that salaries for group “A” eligible City employees are increased by not less than 2% in 2018.

Whereas, The Common Council greatly values the efforts and contributions of all City employees, and the efficient, caring and conscientious manner in which City employees serve the residents of the City of Milwaukee; and

 

Whereas, Salary increases for certain City employees have significantly lagged salary increases granted to City protective service employees in recent years, unfairly burdening City employees as the City struggles to operate with serious budgeting restraints; and 

 

Whereas, The Mayor stated in his amendment veto message that “… general City employee salary adjustments may need to be delayed or reduced below the planned 2%” in 2018; therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Employee Relations is directed that any amendment to Part II, Section 4 of the Salary Ordinance - Salary Advancement and Salary Anniversary Dates include language providing that salaries for Group “A” eligible City employees are increased by not less than 2% in 2018.
