Analysis
This resolution implements a footnote to the 2018 Budget by directing the Department of Neighborhood Services to consult with the Milwaukee Police Department and other relevant City departments to develop strategies and implement practices to prevent illegal dumping.
Body
Whereas, Illegal dumping impairs the health, safety and welfare of Milwaukee residents and blights neighborhoods; and
Whereas, The City incurs significant cost to clean up site where illegal dumping has occurred; and
Whereas, Developing strategies and implementing practices to prevent illegal dumping will protect neighborhoods from blight and save the City money; and
Whereas, A footnote in the 2018 Budget provides that the Department of Neighborhood Services, with the Milwaukee Police Department and other relevant City departments, develop strategies and implement practices to prevent illegal dumping; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Neighborhood Services is directed to consult with the Milwaukee Police Department and other relevant City departments to develop strategies and implement practices to prevent illegal dumping; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Department of Neighborhood Services shall report strategies developed and practices proposed to the Common Council not later than March 31, 2018.
