 Title

Substitute resolution approving the City of Milwaukee acquisition of a portion of the property at 503 E. Erie Street from Gregory Martin, in the 4th Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This resolution approves the City of Milwaukee’s acquisition of a portion of the property located at 503 East Erie Street.  The property is needed to support the construction of Riverwalk and the Trestle Park in the vicinity of the property.

Body

Whereas, the City of Milwaukee is undertaking the construction of a segment of Riverwalk as well as the development of the Trestle Park in the vicinity of the privately owned property located at 503 East Erie Street; and

 

Whereas, during the design of the Riverwalk segment, it was discovered that in order to maintain ADA compliance of an existing ramp to a public dock, the Riverwalk segment needs to be placed 2 feet landward of the original design; and

 

Whereas, in order to accommodate this change in design, a portion of the property located at 503 East Erie Street (approximately 31 square feet) must be acquired from the private landowner; and

 

Whereas, the Department of City Development and the Office of the City Attorney have negotiated the acquisition of the required property from the owner in exchange for certain landscape enhancements on the Trestle Park; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council approves the acquisition of the portion of the property located at 503 East Erie Street and authorizes the proper City officials, including the Commissioner of the Department of City Development, or his designee to enter into any agreements on behalf of the City of Milwaukee necessary to accomplish the intent of this resolution.
