Title:

Resolution authorizing acceptance of additional funding for an ATF Milwaukee Firearms/Violent Crimes Impact Team Task Force grant.

Analysis:

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept additional funds for an ATF Milwaukee Firearms/Violent Crimes Impact Team Task Force from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, in the amount of $64,000, for a total of $77,525 with a city share of $-0- and a grantor share of $77,525. The purpose of this grant is to fund overtime expenses in order to provide resources to assist the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in joint law enforcement operations.

Body:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for funding from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; and

 

Whereas, Funding for the period of October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017 was $13,525; and

 

Whereas, Additional funding of $64,000 has been provided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department is authorized to accept the additional grant funding without further approval unless its terms change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to increase the current grant budget by $64,000 for a grant total of $77,525; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:

 

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
