Title

Resolution approving the 2017/18 Intergovernmental Agreement for School Security Program between the City and the Milwaukee Board of School Directors.

Analysis

This resolution approves an Intergovernmental Agreement for School Security Program ("Agreement") between the City and the Milwaukee Board of School Directors ("Board").  Under this Agreement, the Milwaukee Police Department shall assign 12 officers to work as School Resource Officers ("SROs") in the School Security Program on a full-time basis during the 2017/18 school year.

The SRO Pilot Program was originally approved by Common Council File Number 061071 on February 6, 2007 and continued to be extended from the 2007/08 school year through the current 2016/17 school year agreement.  This agreement will cover the 2017/18 school year starting 8/14/17 and ending 5/18/18.

The Board shall reimburse the City for actual salaries, fringe benefits, and overtime, plus indirect costs, of 6 of the SROs.  In no event shall the Board be liable for costs exceeding $478,142 per school year.
