Substitute resolution relative to acceptance, and funding of a Speed Enforcement 2017 grant (Police Department).
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a Speed Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of State Patrol, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $80,000. The purpose of this grant is to detect and apprehend motor vehicle operators in areas with the largest number of crashes due to excess alcohol use or speed.

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #20.600, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Speed Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of State Patrol, Bureau of Transportation Safety, and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 6/01/17 to 9/30/17 would cost $80,000 of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code Ordnances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2017 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Speed Enforcement 2017 Project Grant:
