Minutes note: Paul Vornholt - Port Milwaukee stated that he invites those interested in a site visit. He stated that the studies and plans can be requested at any time. Richard Seawall - U.S. Venture, Inc. stated that he don't understand why it is important to expose their private plans. Individuals present in opposition: Eric Hansen, Citizens Acting for Rail Safety, stated that there are several changes to the original plan and asked what is the City's vision for the project. He stated that the Port represents the clean strategies by citizens. Cheryl Nenn asked where she can access these studies and plans. She stated that she has concerns about safety and transport of these products through the city. Ald. Borkowski stated that certain questions by Mr. Hansen need to be addressed at a later time. Ald. Bauman stated that several studies and plans were prepared showing the goals of the project. Ald. Kovac stated that the new amended lease addresses the issues brought forth by the Committee in the past.

Resolution approving the fourth Amendment to the Lease Agreement with U.S. Venture, Inc. 

Analysis

This resolution would approve a Fourth Amendment to Lease Agreement with U.S. Venture, Inc. for an additional 0.95 acres of property adjacent to its current leasehold at 1626 S. Harbor Drive.

BODY

Whereas, U.S. Venture is a tenant in good standing with the Port of Milwaukee and has an existing lease dated May 16, 2014; and

 

Whereas, This Fourth Amendment to the Lease Agreement is for an additional 0.95 acres of property.  The lease term will run concurrent with the current lease agreement and terminate on December 31, 2024; and


Whereas, The Board of Harbor Commissioners at its meeting of August 16, 2017 acted by vote of the Board to grant such amendment; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that said Common Council hereby ratifies and approves the Fourth Amendment to Lease Agreement between U.S. Venture, Inc. and the City of Milwaukee, by and through its Board of Harbor Commissioners; and, be it 

 

Further Resolved, That the designated officers of said government and of said Board of Harbor Commissioners are hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement to carry out this purpose, as prepared by the City Attorney's office.
