Body

Whereas, The Community and Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account is used to promote the City’s economic development programs and attract new industry to the City; and

Whereas, The first Bronzeville Week was designated on July 23, 2013, by Common Council Resolution File Number 130456; and

Whereas, Bronzeville Week was established as an official City event on June 20, 2017, by Common Council Resolution File Number 170255; and

Whereas, The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District is a City of Milwaukee redevelopment initiative inspired by Milwaukee’s original Bronzeville District of the early- to mid-1900s; and

Whereas, The purpose of the Bronzeville Redevelopment Plan is to create economic development in a predominately African-American neighborhood in a way that recaptures the enthusiasm and appeal of the original Bronzeville District; and

Whereas, The appropriation of up to $7,500 from the Community and Economic Development Committee Fund for Bronzeville Week will provide funding to support the events associated with Bronzeville Week; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that up to $7,500 is appropriated from the 2017 Community and Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account No. 0001-1310-S123-006300 to Bronzeville Week; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Clerk’s Office is authorized to accept up to $7,500 from the 2017 Community and Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account to support Bronzeville Week; and, be it
