Resolution approving the opening of the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee’s Low Income Family Public Housing Program Waiting List

Body
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority currently owns and manages more than 1,200 units of family public housing; and
WHEREAS, the family public housing waiting list was last open for six months from January 2012 to July 2012 and received more than 13,000 pre-applications; and
WHEREAS, the Secretary-Executive Director has determined that the current waiting list for the low income family public housing program is not sufficient to meet the current and future needs of the Housing Authority; and
WHEREAS, through a Request for Proposal process, the Housing Authority has selected an experienced contractor (HAPPY Software, i.e., waitlistcheck.com ) to assist with receiving online public housing pre-applications; therefore be it
RESOLVED, by the Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee that the waiting list for low income family public housing program be opened through an online process beginning Monday, September 11, 2017 and will remain open until Friday, November 10, 2017 or until the Secretary-Executive Director determines that an adequate pool of applications has been received; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Secretary-Executive Director authorize the appropriate staff to take action necessary to implement this policy.
