Substitute resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a 2018 Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works - Operations Division (Forestry Section) to accept and fund a 2018 Urban Forestry grant from Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) in the amount of $40,000 with a city share of $20,000 and a grantor share of $20,000. The purpose of the grant is to develop informational resources and build a targeted recruitment campaign to encourage gender and racial diversity and promote job opportunities for Milwaukee residents in the urban forestry industry, and in particular, with the City of Milwaukee Forestry.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from WDNR to develop informational resources and build a targeted recruitment campaign to encourage gender and racial diversity and promote job opportunities for Milwaukee residents in the urban forestry industry, and in particular, with the City of Milwaukee Forestry; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 1/1/2018 to 12/31/2018 would cost $40,000 of which, $20,000 (50%) would be provided by the city and its partners and $20,000 (50%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of Public Works shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2018 Special Revenue - Grant and Aid Projects the following amounts for the program/project titled 2018 Urban Forestry:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Department of Public Works-Operations Division, which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Enter into subcontracts as detailed in the grant budget.
