Title

Resolution establishing Bronzeville Week as an official City event and authorizing the acceptance and expenditure of contributions.

Analysis

This resolution establishes Bronzeville Week as an official City event and authorizes the City Clerk’s Office to accept and expend contributions for Bronzeville Week.

 

Body

Whereas, On July 23, 2013, the Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 130456, designating the first Bronzeville Week in the City of Milwaukee; and

 

Whereas, The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District is a City of Milwaukee redevelopment initiative inspired by Milwaukee’s original Bronzeville District of the early-to mid-1900’s; and

 

Whereas, The purpose of the Bronzeville Redevelopment Plan is to create economic development in a predominately African-American neighborhood in a way that recaptures the enthusiasm and appeal of the original Bronzeville District; and

 

Whereas, The City Clerk’s Office anticipates receiving up to $100,000 in contributions from various individuals and organizations to support Bronzeville Week; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Bronzeville Week is established as an official City event held annually; and, be it 

 

Further Resolved, That the City Clerk’s Office is authorized to accept up to $100,000 in contributions to support Bronzeville Week; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenues from the Special Purpose Account-Contributions, Account Number 0001-2110-0001-D001-006300, and the Estimated Revenue Account for Contributions, Account Number 0001-9990-0001-009850 to the City Clerk’s Special Account 0001-1310-6300-DXXX, and the City’s Estimated Revenue Account 009850, up to the amount of $100,000.
