Title

Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Cost Sharing Agreement with the City of Greenfield for the planned improvement of South 60th Street from West Morgan Avenue to West Cold Spring Road.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Cost Sharing Agreement with the City of Greenfield for the local share of construction costs associated with the rehabilitation of South 60th Street from West Morgan Avenue to West Cold Spring Road.  The City of Milwaukee has entered into an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for rehabilitation of the subject roadway with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation funding 80 percent of the project costs. The City of Milwaukee has incorporated segments of the roadway that lie within Greenfield’s municipal boundaries into the construction project to complete the rehabilitation of the entire roadway between West Morgan Avenue and West Cold Spring Road.  A separate resolution will transfer Greenfield’s construction dollars to a grantor reimbursable subaccount to fund Greenfield’s share of the construction costs.

Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 140427 directed the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, for the programming and rehabilitation of South 60th Street from West Morgan Avenue to West Cold Spring Road (see attached); and

 

Whereas, Approximately 15 percent of the project’s work lies within the municipal boundaries of the City of Greenfield; and

 

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has incorporated the segments of the roadway that lie within the City of Greenfield into the improvement project to complete the rehabilitation of the entire roadway between West Morgan Avenue and West Cold Spring Road; and

 

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee was awarded Federal Surface Transportation Program entitlement funds to cover 80 percent of the project costs; and

 

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has prepared a Cost Sharing Agreement to address the cost breakdown between the City of Milwaukee and the City of Greenfield for the remaining 20 percent of the costs of the project; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to execute a Cost Sharing Agreement with the City of Greenfield for the estimated construction costs associated with the locally funded portion of the improvement of South 60th Street from West Morgan Avenue to West Cold Spring Road, a copy of which is attached to Common Council File Number 170097, and is incorporated by reference as though set forth in full.
