Title
Resolution authorizing the Department of Public Works to expend funds allocated in the 2007 City Budget for the Sanitation Headquarters Modification - Various Sites capital project account.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the expenditure of funds from the 2007 Sanitation Headquarters Modification - Various Sites capital project account, administered by the Department of Public Works. The Common Council appropriated $2,260,500 for the project in the 2007 Adopted City Budget. A footnote in the Adopted Budget requires Common Council approval for expenditures to be made relating to $856,500 of the total appropriation.

Whereas, The Common Council approved the City of Milwaukee 2007 Budget as Common Council Resolution 060757 adopted November 10, 2006 including a Capital Improvement new borrowing appropriation in the amount of $2,260,500 for the Department of Public Works Sanitation Headquarters Modification - Various Sites capital project (0321-9990-R999-BU11091100); and

Whereas, Included a budget footnote reading, "No funds to be expended without Common Council approval;" and

Whereas, This footnote had been included in the budget pending a detailed scope definition by the Department of Public Works; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works has provided a detailed scope of the project; which includes design and construction of a salt dome at the department’s Northwest Garage facility at 3025 West Ruby Avenue; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works has closed ward yards at 72nd and Fond Du Lac Avenue, and 29th and Cameron Avenue, and has relocated work activities to the Northwest Garage Facility; and

Whereas, The workforce at the Northwest Garage facility serves approximately one-sixth of the city for snow and ice control operations, and

Whereas, The Northwest Garage facility does not have a salt dome; now, therefore, be it
