Analysis
This resolution adds two members, the City Librarian or designee and a member of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, to the Early Education Task Force.
Body
Whereas, The Early Education Task Force was created by Common Council File Number 161610 on March 1, 2017, for the purpose of aligning Milwaukee Public Schools outreach and early education initiatives with City of Milwaukee Promise Zones and to initiate a plan for birth-to-school literacy that will create more equity for children as they enter schools in Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The Task Force is comprised of representatives of the Common Council, Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Area Technical College, Milwaukee Education Partnership, Milwaukee Succeeds, Next Door Foundation, United Way, Milwaukee County Health Department, Milwaukee Health Services, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Medical College of Wisconsin, and the community ; and
Whereas, The Task Force has determined that adding the City Librarian and a school board member is essential to the success of its mission; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Librarian or the City Librarian’s designee shall be a member of the Early Education Task Force; and, be it
Further Resolved, That a member of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors to be appointed by the Common Council President shall be a member of the Early Education Task Force.
