Title

Substitute ordinance relating to a change in zoning from Civic Activity, Local Business, Multi-Family Residential, and Residential and Office, to Institutional, on various lands located generally North and South of West Wisconsin Avenue between North 9th Street and North 20th Street, to permit various Marquette University-related land uses, in the 4th Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This zoning change was initiated by Marquette University to permit existing and future university-related land uses such as student dormitories and parking structures.

Body

Resolved, That the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1. There is added to the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances a new section to read as follows:

 

Section 295-905(2)(c).0002. The zoning map is amended to change the zoning for the areas bounded and described as follows:

 

The centerline of West Wisconsin Avenue, the centerline of North 17th Street, a line 360 feet South and parallel to the south line of West Wisconsin Avenue, a line 135 feet East and parallel to the east line of North 17th Street, a line 180 feet South and parallel to the south line of West Wisconsin Avenue, a line 150 feet East and parallel to the east line of North 17th Street, the centerline of West Wisconsin Avenue, a line 100 feet East and parallel to the east line of North 17th Street, a line 125 feet North and parallel to the north line of West Wisconsin Avenue, the centerline of North 17th Street, the centerline of West Wells Street, a line 170 feet West and parallel to the west line of North 18th Street, a line 190.52 feet South and parallel to the south line of West Wells Street, the centerline of North 19th Street, a line 150 feet North and parallel to the north line of West Wisconsin Avenue, a line 70 feet East and parallel to the east line of North 19th Street, and the centerline of West Wisconsin Avenue; and

 

The centerline of West Clybourn Street, the centerline of North 18th Street, a line 180 feet North and parallel to the north line of West Clybourn Street, a line 135 feet West and parallel to the west line of North 18th Street, a line 240 feet North and parallel to the north line of West Clybourn Street, and the centerline of North 19th Street; and

The centerline of West Wisconsin Avenue, the centerline of North 10th Street, a line 152 feet South and parallel to the south line of West Wisconsin Avenue, a line 100 feet East and parallel to the east line of North 10th Street, the centerline of West Wisconsin Avenue, a line 290 feet East and parallel to the east line of North 10th Street, a line 195 feet South and parallel to the south line of West Wisconsin Avenue (extended), a line 382 feet East and parallel to the east line of North 10th Street, the centerline of West Michigan Street, the centerline of West Tory Hill, and the centerline of North 11th Street, from Civic Activity (C9D(A)), Local Business (LB2), Multi-Family Residential(RM5), Multi-Family Residential (RM7), and Residential and Office (RO2), to Institutional District (TL).
