HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
|
Minutes note: Mr. Tim Askin, staff, said the synagogue was constructed in 1926 and housed the Jewish congregation until the late 1950s. Greater Galilee has owned the building since then and that congregation was founded in 1920. An addition has been proposed as well as a connector to the addition, a landscaped courtyard and a four-car garage. The committee only has jurisdiction over the connector to the addition, not the addition itself or the garage. The connector will require the removal of four windows. The brick and windows will match the existing building. Both the connector and the addition meet established guidelines for the building, according to staff. Staff has polite requests for the garage, but cannot require anything. Staff recommends approval with staff approval for more details on the brickwork and the windows and the brickwork be done in a Flemish style and the HVAC should be painted or screened. Staff would like to see paneled garage doors and a water table added, but cannot require this.
Mr. Williams moved, with conditions, seconded by Ms. Pieper Eisenbrown. There were no objections | | |
