Title

Substitute resolution authorizing the acceptance of 2,000 Med-Destroyer prescription drug-neutralizing packets from Reno Products, LLC, by the Health Department.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept a gift of 2,000 Med-Destroyer prescription drug-neutralizing packets from Reno Products, LLC, for the purpose of reducing the amount of unused prescription drugs in Milwaukee households.

Body

Whereas, Section 304-24 of the Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received to the City; and

 

Whereas, Heroin is the fastest-growing drug problem in Milwaukee; and

 

Whereas, Abuse of prescription medication by teens is on the rise nationally; and

 

Whereas, Reno Products, LLC, established in 2011, is a manufacturer of medical supplies in Milwaukee County; and 

 

Whereas, Med-Destroyer is a drug-neutralizing product for residents desiring to safely dispose of unused prescription medications and illegal drugs such as heroin; and

 

Whereas, The Health Department, working directly with residents, would be able to dispense  Med-Destroyer to individuals to dispose of unwanted and unused medications before they are abused or flushed into Milwaukee waterways; now, therefore, be it  

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department is authorized to accept 2,000 Med-Destroyer prescription drug-neutralizing packets from Reno Products, LLC; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Common Council expresses its gratitude to Reno Products, LLC, for its generous gift.
