Minutes note: Ms. Carlen Hatala, Historic Preservation Commission staff, said that a similar request was approved for another school. The need for the reduction in height is because the 71 foot height is no longer needed and the height leads to condensation and damage to the interior walls. The chimney was ornamented with Bedford stone at the top. The applicant wishes to remove the top 36 feet and will re-build the top to retain the current details at the top. The stone will be salvaged where it can or new stone will be cut to match the existing stone. The new chimney will stand one foot above the school parapet. Staff recommends approval.
