Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install a traffic control signal at the intersection of West Harrison Avenue and South 6th Street in the 12th and 14th Aldermanic Districts with funding from Saint Augustine Preparatory Academy at an estimated cost of $100,000.
Body
Whereas, A traffic study was conducted for the construction of Saint Augustine Preparatory Academy, and traffic generated by the school will result in pedestrian and vehicle volumes that will meet Federal warrants for the installation of a traffic control signal; and
Whereas, The installation of a traffic control signal will result in a better exchange of right-of-way between vehicles and pedestrians; and
Whereas, Saint Augustine Preparatory Academy has agreed to fund the estimated cost of $100,000 for installing the traffic control signal; and
Whereas, The traffic control signal will be completed using City forces and is currently scheduled for installation in summer 2017; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to install a new traffic control signal at the intersection of West Harrison Avenue and South 6th Street using funding from Saint Augustine Preparatory Academy.
