Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee Health Department to execute memorandums of understanding between the City of Milwaukee and various partner agencies to memorialize the terms under which these partner agencies will distribute filtration devices, at no charge, to eligible households within the City of Milwaukee verified as having a connection to the public water supply via a lead water service line.

Body

Whereas, the Social Development Commission, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers, Inc., other partner agencies, and the City of Milwaukee recognize the need to promote the prevention of exposure to environmental lead hazards in the city of Milwaukee and educate the community about filtration as a way to reduce lead levels in water; and

 

Whereas, the City of Milwaukee recognizes the city’s most vulnerable population, children under the age of 6, should have access to lead-free drinking water, now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council approves memoranda of understanding between the City of Milwaukee and the Social Development Commission, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers, Inc., and other partner agencies, pursuant to an agreement in substantially the same form as the agreement attached hereto; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the designated officers of said government are hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement to carry out this purpose; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That such authority of the City of Milwaukee Health Department shall continue, unless otherwise rescinded or amended by future Common Council action.
