Substitute resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the 2017 Maternal and Child Health Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund the 2017 Maternal and Child Health Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the amount of $974,053 with a grantor share of $500,597 (51%) and a city share of $473,456 (49%). The purpose of the contract is to improve birth outcomes, provide family support, and improve childhood development through an intensive home visiting program (Nurse Family Partnership) and the Men’s Health Program.

Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services for the purpose of improving birth outcomes, provide family support, and improve childhood development; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 01/01/17 to 12/31/17 would cost $974,053 of which $500,597 (51%) would be provided by the grantor and $473,456 (49%) would be provided by the city and; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2017 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled 2017 Maternal and Child Health Grant:
