Analysis
Currently, under ch. 81 of the code, any person not meeting an application filing deadline must pay a late filing fee. Further, if any person files late for multiple licenses or permits with concurrent expiration dates, he or she must pay multiple late filing fees.
This ordinance establishes that applicants filing multiple late applications for licenses or permits with concurrent expiration dates shall pay only one late filing fee. In the event of multiple different late filing fees, the highest applicable late fee shall apply.
In addition, this ordinance establishes that the replacement fee for a municipal identification card shall be $5.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 81-1-5 of the code is repealed and recreated to read:
81-1. General Provisions.
5. LATE FILING FEE. Except where otherwise provided:
a. Any person who does not meet any application filing deadline as established by the city clerk for any license or permit issued by the city clerk’s office shall pay a late application fee of $25.
b. Any person filing more than one late application at the same time for licenses or permits with concurrent expiration dates for the same person or premises shall pay a single late filing fee in the highest applicable amount.
Part 2. Section 81-76 of the code is repealed and recreated to read:
81-76. Municipal Identification Card. 1. The fee for each municipal identification card shall be $10.
2. The replacement fee for each municipal identification card shall be $5.
