Analysis
This resolution approves the acquisition of the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation-owned property at 4830 West State Street by the City of Milwaukee for $100,000.
Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (“WisDOT”) owns the parcel at 4830 West State Street, Tax Key No. 386-1325-113 (“Property”), and has deemed the Property surplus to its needs and has offered to convey it to the City of Milwaukee (“City”) for use by the Milwaukee Police Department (“MPD”); and

Whereas, The MPD has been leasing the Property from WisDOT since 2011 and has been utilizing the Property and the existing building for office space and vehicle maintenance of its fleet; and

Whereas, On behalf of the MPD, the City of Milwaukee Department of City Development (“DCD”) has negotiated acquisition of the Property for $100,000; and

Whereas, The Common Council authorized the necessary funds for acquisition of the Property in the adopted 2016 City Budget; and

Whereas, The City and WisDOT have scheduled a closing to take place on or before November 15, 2016; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of DCD, on behalf of the MPD, is authorized to acquire said Property; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Common Council authorizes the expenditure of $100,000 that is allocated in the 2016 City Budget for acquisition of the Property; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller, in conjunction with the MPD and the Commissioner of DCD, is directed to establish any and all subaccounts in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices and City guidelines necessary to maintain the fiscal c...
