Analysis
This resolution authorizes City officials to issue an occupancy permit to Veit allowing occupancy of West Juneau Avenue between North 4th Street and a point 180 feet east, West Highland Avenue between North 4th Street and a point 180 feet east, and the north/south alley in the block bound by North 4th Street, West Juneau Avenue, North 3rd Street, and West Highland Avenue.
Body
Whereas, Veit has been retained to demolish the structure located at 324 West Highland Avenue for the Milwaukee Bucks Arena Project, detailed in the Cooperation, Contribution and Development Agreement (Tax Incremental Finance Districts No. 22 and 84 - Milwaukee Bucks Arena Project); and
Whereas, The demolition of the parking structure will be completed between the dates of October 10, 2016 and March 31, 2017; and
Whereas, Veit has requested to occupy the southern 50 feet of West Juneau Avenue between North 4th Street and a point 180 feet east between October 20, 2016 and November 29, 2016, the entire West Highland Avenue between North 4th Street and a point 180 feet east between February 6, 2017 and March 14, 2017, and the north/south alley in the block bound by North 4th Street, West Juneau Avenue, North 3rd Street, and West Highland Avenue as a phased occupancy between October 10, 2016 and March 31, 2017; and
Whereas, Veit will be responsible to contact all affected property owners and businesses informing them of the closures of the street and alley and the affected dates; and
Whereas, Veit will conduct the demolition and phase the alley closure in a phased manner to minimize impact to surrounding businesses and property owners per the Phase Plan; and
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works may approve temporary occupancy of up to one-third of the width of the right of way while temporary use beyond that point must be approved by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to issue a permit to Veit allowing occupancy of the southern 50 feet of West Juneau Avenue between North 4th Street and a point 180 feet east between October 20, 2016 and November 29, 2016, the entire West Highland Avenue between North 4th Street and a point 180 feet east between February 6, 2017 and March 14, 2017, and the north/south alley in the block bound by North 4th Street, West Juneau Avenue, North 3rd Street, and West Highland Avenue as a phased occupancy between October 10, 2016 and March 31, 2017; and, be it
Further Resolved, That Veit is also permitted to occupy the southern sidewalk and curb lane area of West Juneau Avenue between North 4th Street and a point 180 feet east between October 10, 2016 and November 29, 2016 and the northern sidewalk and curb lane area of West Highland Avenue between North 4th Street and a point 180 feet east between February 6, 2017 and March 14, 2017.
